TL;DR
Users who are invited to a banner often think they 'own the account'.
This causes confusion and accidental access removal via the “Stop sharing” button.
Clear ownership context and a label change would prevent this.
Full details:
New users who are invited to a banner often assume they are logging into their own account, rather than accessing a banner shared with them by another owner.
Because ownership and sharing context is not clearly communicated:
  • Users believe the banner is “theirs”
  • Actions like “Stop sharing” are interpreted as stopping the service or banner
  • Users may unintentionally remove their own access (this happened to me today)
This is particularly problematic for managed, agency, and reseller use cases where:
  • The banner is owned by a provider
  • End users are granted shared access
  • Ownership and billing are handled externally
Suggested improvements:
  • Clearly indicate when a banner is shared, including who owns it
  • Add contextual text such as “Managed by [Owner Name / Email]”
  • Rename “Stop sharing” (which is what the shared user sees) to something clearer like “Remove my access”
  • Optionally clarify that this action does not stop the banner or billing
These changes would reduce user confusion, accidental access removal, and support requests without changing any core functionality.
